Culture

Qatar Cool’s culture, the way we do things, reflects our very existence and purpose. As an organization with a diverse cultural background from over 25 countries our culture needs to connect everyone and work as one fluid team with a unified mission. Our core values have acted as the framework through the organization lifecycle from recruitment, performance, retention, and development of our employees.

Ethics and Integrity

We have a zero-discrimination policy in the organization and this apparent from our detailed procedures and open channels available to our people. Our grievance policy allows consistent equal treatment of each person and case with the same opportunities afforded to all concerned. We do not allow race, gender, age, disability, religion, position etc. to enter any situation, particularly that of a grievance. We administer fair practices with the upmost confidentiality

Qatarization

Qatarization remains a strategic focus of us, our main objective is to identify and recruit competent and motivated employees in critical strategic positions by implementing performance-driven development programs. As a proud Qatari company employing nationals is not just a KPI, it is our culture and something we are proud off. At present we a total of 7.34% employment of nationals and aim to further increase this number across the organization through our development and sponsorship programs.

Employee Well Being

We hold an annual Health and safety week for our employees where we invite health professionals to visit and talk to our people, as well as our health and safety team. In addition, we provide healthy alternatives, sports related activities and information on how to lead a healthier lifestyle.

Core Value Team Building

Our core values sessions are centered around one of the five values in any given session.  We hold the team building activities as a company and often challenge our employees with a ‘problem’ to solve together in teams.  We have worked with some of the best companies who specialize in team building.

Employee Engagement Events

Team work is important to us and our core values.  We run a variety of team building sessions, either for specific teams and/or departments or as a company.  The activities are centered around a key topic with clear objectives and outcomes, our activities vary from casual days to more intense classroom sessions, depending on the needs.

Annual Gatherings

Each year the organization gets together for our annual gathering.  The gathering covers our achievements and strategy/objectives as an organization.  In addition, we recognize and award our employees based on their performance and run a team building activity centered around one of our core values. The Gathering brings us together as one team and allows us the opportunity to engage and celebrate the organization and its people.

Rewards and Recognitions

Qatar Cool has an extensive Rewards and Recognition Program in the organization. The program aims to support our people and retain our talent. The rewards and recognition program plays a pivotal role in building a ‘performance-based’ value driven culture. Quarterly, we hold an award ceremony where award winners come together to be recognized for their efforts and exemplary work.

Sports Tournaments

We run many different internal sports tournaments for our employees to participate in and engage with one another.  We also on occasion sponsor our employees in official competitions such as basketball tournaments. We encourage our employees to lead healthy lives and stay active, by arranging such activities we can further support this. 

Knowledge Sharing Sessions

Knowledge sharing sessions derive from the need for departments or teams to share, understand or learn from one another, on a new policy, technology or a lessons learnt, to name a few.  When needed a third party will deliver the sessions on our behalf.  It is a great opportunity to bring together our people and knowledge. 

Internal Campaigns

Throughout the organization we have many communication channels which can be utilized for internal campaigns, by our various departments.  We use digital screens to announce and display our achievements and news, we have poster boards to run campaigns and key messaging as well as a variety of digital communication means.  

E-Learning

Our e-learning portal provides third party designed and certified training opportunities for our people, from a plethora of topics such as behavioral skills, health and safety related courses, risk management and communication skills, to name a few.

E-Forms

As well as implementing our digital signature system we have converted all our print forms to E-Forms. As an organization with cross functional exchanges and requirements forms play a vital role in the day-to-day operations. The generation and requirement for forms is a necessity especially in the operations of our cooing plants, our safety procedures, and the engagement with contractors. We had a wealth of forms being used and printed daily prior to migrating to E-Forms. With the support of our IT department, we have now converted over 90% of our forms to digital formats, thus reducing our prints and improving our efficiency.

Online Meetings

With 5 office locations, cross functional meetings require a significant amount of commuting for daily meetings and the delivery of some tasks. With this we implemented a new digital culture of video meetings. Using the platform Microsoft Teams we have held over 900 meeting online, 118 thousand minutes in total, since 2020. The savings of adjusting our behaviors have substantially saved on CO2 emissions from commuting, improved efficiency, and reduced meeting times. Further supporting our goal of becoming a leaner more sustainable organization.

Web-based Platforms

To further condense and streamline our digitalization and efficiency, OneDrive was implemented. This web-based platform allows our people to share documents and data effectively and efficiently without the need of using external devices such as flash drives, CD’s etc. The redundancy of such external devices further supports our efforts to reduce production, distribution, and carbon footprint from the need to purchase said items.

Printer Cards/quotas

An initial study showed a staggering annual consumption of over 250,000 papers being used to print in 2019. Since, we have achieved a substantial reduction in our annual prints, and it is now a little over one hundred thousand a year. Although this number is still high, we are working on automating more systems and reducing more prints with internal campaigns targeting at print behaviors. The implementation of the printer cards allows us to not only assign print allowances to our people but adds an extra security layer to the items being printed, by only printing the items when the authorized user swipes their card at the printer. 

Digital Signatures

Computer-based training

Our computer-based training courses, hosted by ISprings Suite are an integral part of our Learning Management System. The system allows us to customize training programs, awareness sessions and induction programs. Our first computer-based training was developed in 2017, with the addition of two in 2020, to date we now boast more than ten courses.
